Try Some of the Best 4th of July Appetizers

One of the best things about the 4th of July celebrations is the food. Most great Independence Day parties feature grilled burgers and hot dogs, but it’s important to offer a good variety of appetizers as well. You could always just pick up a few bags of chips from your local grocery store. However, if you want your 4th of July party to be one to remember, try making one or more of the best 4th of July appetizers featured below.

Pigs in a blanket

People of all ages love pigs in a blanket. These delicious, savory treats usually feature cocktail wieners wrapped in crescent dough. This provides a satisfying crunch when you bite into these tiny treats. Making pigs in a blanket is very easy, as all you need is a tube of crescent rolls, a pack of mini cocktail wieners, melted butter and salt.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit before wrapping the cocktail wieners into the crescent roll dough. Cover your baking sheet in melted butter before placing the pigs in a blanket on top. Cook for around 15 minutes and you’ll have perfectly golden pigs in a blanket.

If you want to take your pigs in a blanket to the next level, consider adding cheese to the inside. You could also mix garlic powder into your melted butter for an extra kick of flavor.

Chicken wings

Another crowd favorite on Independence Day is chicken wings. Everyone has their own favorite flavor of chicken wings, but buffalo is easily the most popular. To make this crispy and delicious treat, get two pounds of chicken wings, vegetable oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, honey, butter and, of course, hot sauce. Place the chicken wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet and cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for around an hour. Routinely check your wings to make sure they aren’t burning.

Make your buffalo sauce by mixing together hot sauce, butter and honey. Pour the sauce into a large bowl and throw the wings on top. Mix together until your wings are completely covered.

Deviled eggs

It’s hard to beat deviled eggs when it comes to party appetizers. These delicious treats go great with almost any main entrée, and you could easily eat a ton of them without feeling too full. Make deviled eggs for your 4th of July celebration by first gathering six large eggs, Dijon mustard, salt, tabasco sauce, black pepper, chives, mayonnaise and paprika.

Rinse your eggs and place them in a saucepan before covering them in cold water. Bring the water to a boil, turn off the heat and let the eggs cook for around 15 minutes. Peel your eggs, then place them in the refrigerator for another 15 minutes.

After your eggs have had time to cool, pull them out and cut them into halves. Scoop out the yolks and mix them in a bowl with mustard, mayonnaise, paprika, salt, pepper and chives. Put the yolk mixture back into the egg whites, then arrange them on a plate.

Potato salad

Among the best of the best classic 4th of July appetizers is potato salad. Making good potato salad takes a little longer and requires more ingredients than the other dishes mentioned on this list, but it’s sure to stand out among all the other appetizers at your July 4th celebration. You’ll need gold potatoes, mayonnaise, mustard, relish, apple cider vinegar, celery, hard-boiled eggs, onions, salt and pepper.

First, boil your potatoes and peel off the skins. Chop your potatoes into small pieces, then start mixing the rest of your ingredients. The amount of ingredients like celery and relish you should include will all depend on your personal preferences. Once you have the desired ratio of ingredients, mix everything together for the perfect potato salad.
