Why Is Veterans Day So Important?

The Veterans Day holiday is one most Americans are familiar with. This day celebrates veterans and active duty servicemembers and provides a time to thank these brave individuals for their service. The overall importance of this holiday is easy to see. However, there are other reasons why Veterans Day is so important. Here’s why:

November 11 is Veterans Day for a Reason

Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11 every year and originally called Armistice Day. This date was chosen since it was the day in which the Armistice was signed that ended World War I. In 1954, the holiday name changed to Veterans Day to honor veterans from all wars.

It’s a Day to Honor All Who Served

With the Veterans Day holiday firmly in place, this special day is one where all veterans are honored. From Vietnam veterans to Gulf War veterans, this day honors these individuals who put their lives on the line for the good of our country. It’s one day specifically set aside to honor our American veterans. As we do so in many ways, this honor and celebration of our veterans continues to be the main theme throughout the day of November 11.

It’s a Time to Thank a Veteran

In addition to honoring veterans on November 11, this day is the ideal time to thank veterans by offering deals, discounts, and events. The Veterans Day holiday is one filled with wonderful benefits to veterans and active duty servicemembers. From restaurants to stores to event venues, veterans are treated to specials and deals throughout this honorary day. And rightfully so! This is just one small way to treat our veterans and show them our true appreciation for all they’ve done and continue to do for this country.
