Bringing Disabled Veterans Together Through Golf

This month's Patriot Highlight is about a veteran named Joe Neff, and the Veterans Golf Program. The team is pictured above looking extra patriotic in their Flag Shirt Polos for the program's annual golf tournament. Joe is a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel and was a track and field coach for over forty years. He coached for the USA in the 1992 Paralympic Games, and was a head coach of the Marine Trials track team. The Veterans Golf Program started out in 2012, with just six veterans signed up and one goal: to foster the physical and mental well-being of military veterans through the medium of golf! WWII and Korean War Veteran is 96 Years Young!

Meet Robert W. Chambers, another one of our customers, who we're proud to highlight!  He's a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.  Robert served several duty stations and ships, one being the USS LSM-346. Robert is wearing a patriot favorite; the Men's Patriotic American Waving Flag 100% Cotton Polo. Robert is in the photo below with the other crew members of the USS LSM-346 for the Commissioning Ceremony. He believes he is the last one remaining of the crew. Robert received many medals during his time of service, including the World War II Victory Medal and National Defense Service Medal. The Flag Shirt thanks you for your service, Robert!

Army Nursing Corps Veteran turns 103 Years Old

September's Patriot Highlight is Arline Covey (formerly Edie), who was a nurse in the United States Army.  Mrs. Covey turned 103 years old last week and she's known as Granny to all of her family. She has 5 kids, 10 grand kids and 21 great-grand kids! In 1937, she boarded a train to Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to attend Nursing School. This would later prepare her for joining the Army Nursing Corps. She joined the Army Nursing Corps in 1940. By March of 1941, she was sent to the U.S. Army Air Corps Chanute Field in Rantoul, Illinois: a training base for young Army pilots. Leiutenant Arline Edie appeared in Life Magazine when an epidemic of measles and scarlet fever hit...

This Army and Navy Vet Served Proudly

Meet this month's Patriot Highlight, Lionel Nicholas, who served in both the United States Army and Navy. Lionel completed JROTC at 17 years old, and went on to join the Army right out of high school. He served for four years there as a cook. After the Army, he joined the Navy for four more years during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was near the equator during the conflict. He loved traveling all over the world on the Navy ships, and has some wild stories to tell. His favorite one to share about his time on the ship is about swimming in the ocean, surrounding by sharks!
